The Weekly Roundup
Some of the best in culture, writing, listening and whatever that I'm obsessed with this week.
Your Bit of Zen
I’m very excited to report that I’ve discovered the soothing pastime of Lego. No, I can’t look at a pile of Lego bricks and make something exciting and unique. My brain doesn’t work that way, and frankly it gives me anxiety. BUT what I do enjoy is getting Lego sets and carefully following the instructions and turning hundreds of tiny bits and bobs into a pile of flowers, or the London skyline. They’re great!
Fit to Print
I read this one about liking every single Facebook post a few weeks ago and I still can’t get it out of my head:
If you, like me, adore a good action thriller you’ve also probably been wondering about what seems to have become the signature move for any female fighter. The always fantastic Alison Willmore has a terrific breakdown and critique of “killer gams.”
My colleague at Slate has been watching some Dumpuary flicks so you don’t have to. Thank you for your service Rebecca.
For the Kids (and Probably Adults)
Look. Stuffed animals get a very childish rap, but in reality they can be fun for adults too. Particularly in stressful times, it’s nice to have a cute little soft animal near you. They’re also great at adding a little color and levity to your shelves and desk. The best brand I’ve found for kids and adults alike it JellyCat, a London-based company with just the cutest stuff you could imagine. I mean look at this:

I rest my case.
Hey, It’s Me
I’ve been very busy lately. Here’s some of my recent hosting and guesting gigs.
Thanks, I Hate It
No. No. Something, something. Stop commercializing strong women in this cheesy, girl bossing, way. Something, something. Why does she have to be stripped down to a mini dress by the end? Something, something. Just give us more Enola Holmes, please. Damn, I’m tired.
